Come Hell or High Water

Obama has started his last two years as President of the United States. For the first time in his Presidency, he will have a both a Republican Senate and House. Many are already calling him a lame duck President who won’t be able to accomplish much in these last two years. But I guess Obama has other plans. He still plans to use his pen and his phone to accomplish what he wants, even if Congress doesn’t agree and the American people don’t agree either. Every bill that the Senate and House has proposed to work on, even before these bills are passed, Obama has pledged to veto it. Even bills that have bipartisan support like the Keystone pipeline from Canada to our Gulf Coast will be dead on arrival at the Obama desk. Other such bills are bills on Immigration, bills to propose sanctions on Iran if Obama’s negotiations to keep Iran from getting an atomic bomb fail, and the closing Gitanimino Prison. It doesn’t seem to matter to Obama if there are good and valid reasons why any of these measures should not at least be discussed and debated by the two branches of Congress as well as with the President, before he threatens a veto before the bills are even passed. He threatened five vetoes for bills the combined Senate-House have proposed before his state of the Union Speech on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. During this speech, Obama reiterated these five as ones that will be vetoed and then added two more veto threats, with a total of seven vetoes he is promising.

In addition, Obama is already badmouthing the Republicans in this new Congress. Actually, he has done this for the last four years when the American people elected a Republican House of Representatives and a Democratic Senate. Obama should know that you cannot run down publicly the very people you want to work with you and have them want to work with you. But Obama has consistently done this now for years. Why should we the people expect him to be different now? This last Congress just ending has been labeled as the biggest do-nothing Congress for perhaps a century and a half. Obama, of course, as leader must know he is sabotaging any forward progress with this new Congress. Why?

Is he just so stubborn and stuck on his own ideas, he a going to things his own way, come hell or high water. He has made it perfectly clear to America he has no desire to do anything other than his own way. I am afraid Obama’s last two years are going to be a miserable affair with nothing much being accomplished except wrangling, hard feelings, and hatred of the other side growing. The bitterness of the last six years will stay with those of us who care about our country as Obama continues to weaken America in the eyes of the world and here at home. Is this really what Obama wants his legacy to be? Unbelievable!

All this is coming on growing number of crises worldwide. Europe and the Mid-East are seeing the growing threat of Islamic Terrorism. All of Europe is reacting to attacks on France by Muslim Terrorists, and are afraid of an attack on their shores. In Africa thousands of people are reported killed by Muslim Terrorists there. The country of Yemen fell just the other day to a coup by another Muslim Extremist group apparently back by Iranians who are gaining more and more strength and power in the area. The government of Yemen was pro-west when their government was destroyed and we lost a friend, while Iran has ranted for years “death to Israel and then death to America”. We must take these threats serious, because for the last thirty years Iran has been working towards making an atomic bomb, and Obama is going to things his own way with diplomacy alone without even consulting Congress.

OBAMA IS NOT A KING, NOR DOES HE HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO WORLD PROBLEMS. IN FACT I’M NOT SURE HE HAS ANY OF THE ANSWERS NEEDED IN A WORLD SO FROUGHT WITH DANGER, THREATS, AND UNREST. NOBODY EXCEPT AN EGOMANIAC WOULD BE SO DETERMINED TO DECIDE EVERYTHING HIMSELF WITHOUT GETTING INPUT FROM OTHERS, BUT COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, OBAMA’S GOING TO DO THINGS HIS OWN WAY.
